Guadeloupe

Today we arrived at Basse-Terre Guadeloupe part of the French West Indies. I scheduled an excursion first thing this morning to go to the Cousteau Reserve. We took a ride out past Bouillante and took a boat to Pigeon Island where the Cousteau Reserve is located. We went around the Island in a glass bottom boat and then were able to get out and snorkel. That’s why I went….The snorkeling was pretty good and the weather was hot and sunny. After we arrived back to the ship I dropped off my snorkeling gear and walked around Basse-Terre. This isn’t a normal cruise ship destination. I have been to Guadeloupe a couple of times in the past but we always docked in Pointe-a-Pitre on Grande-Terre. These are two separate islands connected by a bridge. That is why Guadeloupe looks like a butterfly…All in all, today was a pretty good day. It amazes me that we end this cruise on Sunday….it’s been quite an adventure. Next stop, Roadtown Tortola.
