Parintins

Today we visited Parintins which is about 350 miles for Manaus. Parintins is well known in the Amazon for its unique Boi Bumba festival which recalls a famous feud between two families long ago. The festival is held each June as the Amazonian summer begins. This was a lovely little place where it is obvious that they are investing for the future and doing a pretty good job at developing their community. The new floating dock (like the one in Manaus) is a major convenience to cruise ships. The transportation here appears to be mainly 3 wheel (the driver pedals) taxis, bikes and motorcycles. That is of course on land. There is only one way in and out of Parintins…boat. Anyway, I enjoyed our last port in the Amazon. Tomorrow we will be cruising down the Amazon to once again reach the mouth and head back up toward the Caribbean and …Barbados. Before we get to Barbados we have three days at sea. I’m really looking forward to that, I’m tired. I have really been on the go lately. I may not be posting much for the next couple of days…low profile. By the way, I posted a photo of an old buzzard. I named him Randy; it’s just a coincidence that it is also the name of my best friend. I wouldn’t want him to get the wrong impression.

Must say I have enjoyed the pics and commentary. Do you miss the smell of bleach? Bootyard has your name all over it and can see the lounge from here. Nice way to recover fom the excursions is 3 days at sea.
Can't remember the rest of the intineray but I am sure topping up the tan will be part of it.

Enjoy.
