Cruising, Amazon style....

I don’t know how I became so clueless….we entered the Amazon last night, not tonight…Duh. I think the dark brown water should have been a bigger clue. The weather today cooperated for the most part. We were at anchor this morning until about 9:00 at Macapa. This is where we picked up the riverboat pilots and I guess dealt with immigration. There must have been something to sit for 4 hours. The views along the Amazon are amazing. I spent almost the entire day watching our passing along the Amazon River. It is so lush and beautiful that words don’t do it justice. Tomorrow around 10:00 we arrive at our first port, Santarem where I will take an excursion up the Tapajos River and Jari Canal. I hope I can get an underwater photo of a piranha but they probably don’t want me jumping in after one. Wish I didn’t have that cut on my leg….
