Ixtapa/Zihuataneja

I had a pretty busy, fun filled day. First thing this morning we went over to Ixtapa which is only about 4 miles from Zihuataneja. The beaches there a very wide and the waves come crashing in. This is the major tourist town of the two. Ixtapa, like Cancun, was developed purely as a tourist destination while Zihuataneja has maintained more of it roots as a fishing village. After touring around Ixtapa for a while and doing a little shopping, we headed back to Zihuataneja for some beach time at Playa la Ropa. We went to Rossy’s resturant where the beach chairs were free and the food was good. Later in the afternoon we headed back into town for some shopping before boarding the Mercury. On our next trip to Zihuataneja, I hope to go to Playa Las Gatas where the snorkeling is supposed to be good. The only way to get there is by boat but it looks lovely. Our next stop is Manzanillo, another first for me. I’m looking forward to another nice day…off the ship!
